What Loosing You Showed Me

You helped me paint this picture of a beautiful day between us

So I tried not to fuss as I watched the walls of the castle tumble

Although I did grumble when you left me a blind fool begging for attention

I realized desprate’s definition of always searching outside of myself

From liquor on the top shelf or clinging to someone who I don’t blame

Because I bare my own shame like a cross to my grave I’ll carry it

So no I’m not throwing a fit when you treat me like fecal matter

And you know what’s sadder is I’d hoped you’d hang around

Like you heard that sad sound and was like yeah lemme add more misery

But I’d like to see myself a pedigree where I improve over those parts of me

The parts sometimes I’d rather flee from too afraid to face

But I’m tired of feeling like a discrace because I want to make my mom proud

I’m happy in my crowd I can see the faces of those I love cheering

Because without them I’d be veering off course on a one way ticket to nowhere

And although I may think some times its not fair it’s all been worth it

Every penny spent and every moment that didn’t seem great because it wasn’t

But that doesn’t mean I didn’t learn something or gain another friend

Because in the end I may never walk down the isle but I’ll still grow old with laughter

I’ll always preach-your dreams you should go after and never be afraid to fail

Because when we grow frail that’s all we’ll really be able to do for the most part

That and maybe be afraid you’ll fart in the grocery store and it might be juicy

Though if I have one I hope my grandkid would stand next to me and laugh

On my behalf I was old and bound to do it anyway but if they were silent

I would mind it, because I did the same for mine I wonder what she thought

But I never have wanted to stir an unnecessary pot

It’s a little different then what I’m use to but the way Mason captures this frozen post apocalyptic world is captivating from the start! He makes this whole world and honestly I’ve done that and it’s not easy and how he does it is beautiful. I’ve been pretty busy trying to get everything together but I can’t wait to get more time to sit down and read a couple more chapters!
